Privacy Policy

CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "Piano Keyboard Pro" app for iPhone and iPad (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Our Core Principle

Piano Keyboard Pro is a musical instrument app that you play on on-screen keys and pads. Every sound is synthesized on your device, and no sound files are ever downloaded. Playing, practicing, recording, and exporting all run entirely on your device, and playing and practicing work without an internet connection. Your performances and recordings are yours: they are stored on your device, and we never view, collect, upload, or transmit them to our servers. There is no account and no sign-up. Specifically, we do not have access to any of the following:

  • What you play and record (your performance data), or its content
  • The files you export (WAV, M4A, MIDI, and so on), or the MIDI files and audio files you import
  • Your practice scores, app settings, synth presets, or drum patterns

Your recordings and files leave your device only when you share or save an exported file yourself (Section 2), and through the iCloud Backup or computer backup you use for your device (Section 3.2).

2. Recordings, Files, and MIDI Keyboards

  • No microphone: Recording in the app does not capture sound through the microphone. It records the performance data you play in the app (notes, pedal, pitch bend, and so on) and turns it into sound on your device when you play it back or export it. The app never asks for access to the microphone, and your voice and the sounds around you are never recorded.
  • Where your recordings are kept: Recordings, including recordings made from MIDI files you import, are stored in the app's own folder on your device, which other apps cannot read. A recording you delete goes to the in-app trash and is deleted automatically after 30 days; until then you can restore it from the trash, or delete it permanently right away.
  • Exporting: You can export recordings as WAV, M4A, or MIDI files, and drum loops as WAV files. An exported file leaves the app only when you choose where to send it in the share sheet, or choose a location with “Save to Files”. You choose the destination, and we never receive the file. The temporary copy made for exporting is kept in the app's temporary folder, which iOS may clear at any time.
  • Importing files: Importing a MIDI file and loading your own sounds onto the pads read only the file you pick in the system Files picker, which gives the app a copy of that one file. The app cannot see your photo library, your music library, or your other files. Sounds you load onto the pads are stored in the app's own folder on your device.
  • MIDI keyboards: A USB MIDI keyboard works right away without any permission. A Bluetooth MIDI keyboard is found and connected in the iOS Bluetooth MIDI screen, which opens only when you tap "Search for Bluetooth MIDI" on the "MIDI keyboard" screen; iOS asks for Bluetooth permission at that point. Bluetooth is used only to connect the MIDI keyboard you choose. The app never asks for or uses your location.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information Collected Automatically

  • Crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app stops unexpectedly, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, app version, a Firebase installation ID, and similar diagnostic details. Errors in sound processing or in creating a file may also be recorded in the same way even when the app keeps running. This does not include personally identifiable information or the content of your performances or recordings.
  • Purchase information: The one-time "Premium" purchase is made through the App Store. The app checks whether you own Premium with Apple's StoreKit on your device. Payment information such as credit card numbers is handled by Apple, and we never receive it.
  • List of our other apps: To introduce our other apps on a card in the menu and on a list screen, the app downloads their names, descriptions, and icons from our web server. The request contains no personal data from the app. As with any request to a web server, the server receives your device's IP address as part of the connection. Tapping an app in the list opens its page on the App Store.
  • Contacting us: When you tap "Contact us", the app prepares an email in Mail or Gmail that includes the app version, the iOS version, and the device model to help us answer. We receive this information, and your email address, only if you send the email.

3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device

  • Recordings and pad sounds: Stored in the app's own folder on your device as described in Section 2. They never leave it unless you export and share or save them (apart from the device backup described below).
  • Practice scores and settings: Your best accuracy for each practice song, your sound, keyboard, and display settings, your synth presets, and your drum patterns are stored on your device.
  • Prepared sounds: To start sounds quickly, the app keeps the sounds it has synthesized in its cache folder. They contain no personal data, are not backed up, and are made again whenever needed.
  • Device backup: If you use iCloud Backup or back up your device to a computer, iOS includes the app's recordings, pad sounds, practice scores, and settings in that backup and restores them to a new device. The record of when the app asked for a review and the audio latency setting are excluded from backups. Backups are handled by Apple and by you; we have no access to them.
  • When you delete the app: Deleting the app removes the recordings (including the trash), pad sounds, practice scores, and settings stored on your device. Files you have exported and saved to a location you chose remain until you delete them.

3.3 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect

  • The content of your performances and recordings, or of the files you export or import
  • Any sound or image from a microphone or camera (the app uses neither)
  • Your location
  • Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts (the app has no account or sign-up)
  • Your advertising identifier (IDFA), or analytics data about how you use the app (the app contains no analytics SDK such as Google Analytics, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites)
  • Photos, music, or other files on your device (other than files you pick to import), the contents of your screen, or the contents of other apps

3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes

Piano Keyboard Pro requests only one permission, and uses it only for the stated purpose:

  • Bluetooth — Used only to connect a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard that you choose. iOS asks for it only when you tap "Search for Bluetooth MIDI".

No permission is needed to use a USB MIDI keyboard. The app does not use the microphone, camera, photos, contacts, location, or notifications. Its internet connection is used only for sending crash reports, the App Store purchase, downloading the list of our other apps, and showing this privacy policy in the app. Sound synthesis, playing, practicing, recording, and exporting do not require an internet connection.

4. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used only for the following purposes:

  • Operating and maintaining the Service
  • Diagnosing and fixing crashes
  • Responding to support inquiries
  • Complying with applicable laws

5. Third-Party Services and Sharing

Piano Keyboard Pro uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy and is required to protect the data it handles.

  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — crash diagnostic data
  • App Store and StoreKit (Apple Inc.) — the one-time Premium purchase, restoring it, and showing the App Store review request; payment is completed by Apple

Piano Keyboard Pro contains no advertising SDK or analytics SDK and does not use your advertising identifier. The list of our other apps is prepared by us and does not use any advertising network.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties except for processing by the services listed above and where disclosure is required by law.

6. Data Retention

  • Crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
  • Recordings, pad sounds, practice scores, and settings on your device: kept until you delete them or delete the app. Recordings moved to the trash are deleted automatically after 30 days.

7. International Data Transfers

We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics and for hosting the list of our other apps may be located in various countries. When you use the Service, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.

8. Security

The app's network connections (sending crash reports, downloading the list of our other apps, and showing this privacy policy) use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Recordings, pad sounds, and settings are kept in the app's own folder on your device, which other apps cannot read. Please also help keep your device itself secure, for example by setting a passcode.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you reside (e.g., the EEA, UK, California, Japan), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited information we hold. You can:

  • Delete recordings in the app at any time (you can also delete them permanently from the trash right away), or delete the app to erase the recordings, pad sounds, practice scores, and settings stored on your device
  • Turn off Bluetooth access for the app at any time in the Settings app (a USB MIDI keyboard, and every feature other than Bluetooth MIDI keyboards, works without it)
  • Choose whether your device is backed up to iCloud in the Settings app
  • Contact us at the address below to make a request regarding the information we hold, or to withdraw your consent

10. Children's Privacy

Piano Keyboard Pro has no account or sign-up and never asks you to enter your name, email address, or similar details. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone, including children. If we learn that we have received a child's personal information, we will delete it promptly upon being contacted.

11. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version is always published at this URL together with its effective date. We will also notify you within the app of significant changes as appropriate.
